Neighbourhood Watch - Outline.

Neighbourhood Watch is administered by the South Australia Police in partnership with Neighbourhood Watch Association (SA) Inc. The program is usually implemented in geographical locations delineated, whenever possible, using Data Collection Area boundaries set by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The average Neighbourhood Watch Area covers two (2) Data Collection Areas and comprises about 600 homes. Recent area amalgamations have seen the development of areas that cover between 1200 to 2400 homes.

The Neighbourhood Watch program uses a problem solving approach to enhance community safety and now examines issues beyond just crime and disorder. Any issue which negatively impacts on a community member's ability to enjoy where he or she lives is squarely within the sights of Neighbourhood Watch. Environmental and public hygiene issues, traffic management, as well as traditional crime and disorder issues have all been the subject of successful Neighbourhood Watch campaigns.

Strategic Focus of Neighbourhood Watch.
